Applications

KITCHEN TOPS, WORK TOPS, BATHROOM TOPS

Quartz technical and aesthetic characteristics make it the most suitable material to be used for kitchen tops, reception desks, kitchen surfaces, work tops and bathroom tops. Stone Italiana recomposed quartz guarantees certified reliability, allowing to overcome size, stain resistance, hardness and absorbency constraints. Size, composition and appeal are core characteristics when it comes to the surfaces that surround us and become familiar over time.

FLOORS AND WALL COVERINGS

Floors, just like wall coverings, are not mere solid surfaces: they are a part of the language of architecture. The material, style and colour of the floor are an integral part of a project’s overall design. Originally, Stone Italiana’s line of products were developed to be used as flooring and wall cladding surfaces designed to overtake natural stone. Since then, millions of square metres of surfacing materials manufactured by Stone Italiana have been installed worldwide. Since 1979, Stone Italiana has being supplying customers in Italy and around the world with the very best quality in the industry, thereby strengthening its reliability as a supplier of highly durable flooring and wall covering materials. Its surfaces are chosen for their remarkable durability, consistency and excellent physical and mechanical properties, but also for the aesthetic values that are conveyed by their colour and texture. In addition to its standard range, Stone Italiana offers a variety of different and exclusive shades, mixture combinations and formats. Stone Italiana has always worked in close co-operation with architects and interior designers to help them develop an identity for each project. Stone Italiana floor and wall tiles are supplied ready for installation.

RAISED ACCESS FLOORS

Stone Italiana raised access floors are made of removable modular panels that rest on a supporting structure with adjustable feet. This raised floor system is a simple and most efficient flooring solution for workplaces such as banks, offices, shops and public areas. In fact, it offers maximum versatility in applications where wires, cables, ducts and fixtures need to be installed in a void below floor level. The space between the panels and a structure’s original floor, which in some cases may be adjusted in height to meet specific requirements, can be easily accessed for trouble-free installation, inspection and maintenance, without interfering with the work area. The system developed by Stone Italiana is the result of over twenty-five years’ experience in this field. This system is quite unique, thanks to a combination of exclusive features: it is monolithic, anti static, dissipative and highly wear resistant; it has reduced thickness and weight and comes in the full range of colours available from Stone Italiana. And, additionally, it offers possibilities for customization.

Today’s increasingly more sophisticated electronics require the use of materials developed by taking into account the interactions between the worker and the working environment, especially with regard to the occurrence of electrical and electrostatic charges. As known, the accumulation of electrical and electrostatic charges when walking on a floor depends on the type of clothes and footwear, as the material they are made of can trigger the process of generation of these charges. STONE ITALIANA raised floor panels consist of a mixture of selected quartz pressed into slabs with excellent antibacterial, anti-mould and scratch-proof properties. And, most importantly, they feature an in-built anti static agent that provides a degree of conductivity sufficient to make them anti static and dissipative. Furthermore, a thick metal mesh fitted inside the slabs dissipates any electromagnetic and environmental disturbances. The electrical properties of STONE ITALIANA raised access floors fully comply with current European Standards. Thus, these floors provide the definitive technical solution for creating an environment with controlled static electricity, or for use in areas where the dissipation of electric and electrostatic charge is critical.

VENTILATED FAÇADE

A ventilated façade is a construction system that consists of an outer cladding, which is secured to the building wall by a suitable mechanical fixing system, and an insulation layer, which is secured directly to the bearing substructure. The outer cladding panels and the insulation layer are separated by an air space at least 3 cm deep that acts as a chimney, thereby providing an efficient natural ventilation system, with multiple advantages for the entire building. The Stone Italiana façade panels are suitable for exterior cladding applications thanks to reduced weight and thickness, good resistance to accidental impacts as well as good resistance to expansion, water, wind, fire and atmospheric wear and tear. As an additional feature, they can be easily worked on the edges and can be trimmed to the desired thickness, this feature being necessary when fixing the panels to the wall. The Stone Italiana façade cladding technology envisages the use of mechanical fixing systems that ensure static stability and allow for compensation of wall irregularities. These mechanical fixing systems can be subdivided into two technical-functional groups: the actual fixing devices, or “anchors”, and the structural members that transfer the load from the fixing system to the wall. The fixing devices consist of an integrated set of elements, in the form of either – Local Fixings, i.e. each panel is fixed directly to the wall, or – Spread Fixing, i.e. the panels are secured to a structural subframe. The local fixing elements as a whole (pins that fit in holes on the panel edges, tabs that fit into the edges or back of the panel, threaded inserts on the back of the panel, etc.) have a sufficient number of anchoring points to ensure static stability of the Stone Italiana cladding panels. On the contrary, a spread fixing system (using continuous metal sections that fit in kerfs on the panel edges, or expansion bolts, or epoxy chemical anchors) is a hyperstatic system, by which the façade panels are fixed to a subframe made up of metal sections, or rails, in vertical and horizontal orientation, connected between them, which support the slabs or panels. The choice of the best fixing system depends on a number of conditions such as the type of wall, the size and thickness of the façade panels, the overall design and height of the building itself. The projects of the ventilated façades must be priory agreed with Stone Italiana technical office to confirm the possibility of installation and production, according to the installation area and colour involved.
